Aegean Airlines extends flights from Munich to Crete into winter

The Greek airline Aegean Airlines extends its seasonal flight connection from Munich to Heraklion on Crete. Starting in November 2025, travelers from southern Germany will have access to up to six weekly direct flights to the Greek island during the 2025/26 winter season. Aegean Airlines is thus breaking with its traditional practice of discontinuing flights at the end of October and responding to the growing demand for off-season destinations.

The new non-stop flights will be in Airbus A320 Jets and have a flight time of just two hours and 40 minutes. The airline offers a total of around 12.200 seats from November to March. In November, the route will be served six times a week, with the frequency being adjusted in the following months to seasonal demand. The connection will be offered until the beginning of January, resumed in February, and continued in March. Fares start at €75 per route, including taxes and fees. Regular summer flights from Munich to Crete will then resume at the end of March 2026.

Crete, the largest Greek island, attracts visitors in winter with mild temperatures and cultural offerings without the hustle and bustle of peak season. Detlev Geiser, Regional Sales Manager Western Europe and OTAs at Aegean Airlines, emphasizes that the island offers a unique travel experience even in the colder seasons, with the opportunity to explore historical monuments and gastronomy. The capital, Heraklion, attracts visitors with lively markets, taverns, and sights such as the Palace of Knossos.

The expansion of flight services to Heraklion is part of Aegean Airlines' overall strategy to strengthen its route network from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. By 2025, the airline will offer a total of 2,9 million seats and 42 direct connections from 20 cities to Greece. In addition to Heraklion, the most important destinations include Athens, Thessaloniki, Rhodes and KalamataThe year-round presence on routes from Munich strengthens the airline's position in the southern German market.
