At its recent meeting, the shareholders' meeting of FMO Flughafen Münster/Osnabrück GmbH unanimously appointed Andrés Heinemann as the new Managing Director. He will take office on January 1, 2026. Heinemann succeeds Prof. Dr. Rainer Schwarz, who will retire from the management team at the end of the year. Prof. Dr. Schwarz has headed the airport since the beginning of 2017 and has significantly shaped the development of the regional airport during this time.

District Administrator Dr. Martin Sommer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, explained that the personnel decision was intended to continue the successful path of recent years. The selection of an internal candidate underscores the confidence in the growing expertise within the company. Dr. Sommer expressed his conviction that Andrés Heinemann, together with long-standing authorized signatory Thorsten Brockmeyer, would lead FMO into a successful future with responsibility and great commitment. He emphasized Heinemann's many years of expertise, deep commitment to the location, and clear future orientation, which he said offer the best prerequisites for the airport's further development in a dynamic market environment. The selection process was managed by a Düsseldorf-based personnel consulting firm, and the search committee, chaired by Dr. Sommer, unanimously voted in favor of Mr. Heinemann.

Andrés Heinemann, 53, holds a degree in business administration from the University of Osnabrück. He has extensive experience in the aviation industry and is intimately familiar with the specific challenges and potential of Münster/Osnabrück Airport. Since 1996, Heinemann has held various senior positions at FMO. In recent years, as Head of Marketing and Communications, he has played a key role in driving the airport's positive traffic growth and refocusing its communications efforts within the region. His appointment as Managing Director underscores the importance of continuity and internal expertise in managing regional infrastructure projects.

Münster/Osnabrück Airport is an important economic factor for the Westphalia region and southwestern Lower Saxony. It connects the region with important national and international destinations, particularly for leisure travel. This management decision aims to secure FMO's competitiveness in a market dominated by large airports and to continuously improve services for passengers and cargo customers.
