In the last few days there have been repeated rumors that there could be delays in the planned introduction of the Boeing 787-9 aircraft into the fleet at Austrian Airlines. This is denied by the company.

Specifically, it was claimed that Lufthansa itself would need the affected long-haul aircraft and therefore Austrian Airlines could only take over the coveted Dreamliners later. The consequence of this: the schedule for phasing out the aging stock patterns would be delayed.

However, this is not supposed to be true. A spokeswoman for AUA explained: “Austrian Airlines is working intensively on incorporating the B787 into its fleet. The first Dreamliner is expected to arrive in spring 2024 and is scheduled to enter service by late summer 2024.”
