On Thursday, June 27, 2024, Colonel of the General Staff Service Arthur Bennett took command of the Jagdkommando of the Austrian Armed Forces. The handover took place in the presence of Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner. Bennett succeeds Brigadier Philipp Ségur-Cabanac, who has led the Jagdkommando since April 2019 and will now complete a one-year training course at the Royal College for Defense Studies in London.
Colonel Bennett, a graduate of the 29th Fighter Commando Basic Course, began his career in 2004 as a lieutenant in the Fighter Commando Company. His roles have included that of planning officer at the military representation in Brussels and he completed the 21st General Staff Course. Minister of Defense Tanner stressed the importance of experienced leadership for the elite unit in uncertain times and thanked Brigadier Ségur-Cabanac for his commitment.
The Jagdkommando specializes in operations under extreme conditions, including special reconnaissance, commando operations, military support and evacuation operations. The unit operates both in Austria and internationally, often under extreme physical and mental stress.
