A recent survey by the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV) in cooperation with the market research institute Reppublika shows that 25 percent of Austrians have firmly planned a vacation during the upcoming semester break. Of these, 64 percent plan to spend their vacation in Austria. ÖHV President Walter Veit emphasizes the ongoing attractiveness of Austria as a winter destination, be it for skiing, active or thermal spa vacations.

The federal states of Salzburg and Styria are particularly popular, sharing first place in the popularity ranking. Carinthia follows in third place. These preferences reflect the high demand for skiing, active and thermal spa holidays, which are very popular with Austrians during the semester break.

There is still hope for those who decide at short notice: despite good bookings, there are still free rooms available in almost all destinations. The meinhotel.at platform offers an overview of the best addresses, which provides direct links to the hotel websites with the best offers at the best price.

The ÖHV and the opinion research institute Reppublika regularly survey a representative selection of 1.000 Austrians about their holiday plans before school holidays in order to determine current trends and preferences.
