Austrians prefer to spend Easter holidays at home

The current holiday radar of the Austrian Hotel Association (ÖHV) shows that for many Austrians, spring begins with a holiday in their own country. According to a survey by the opinion research institute Reppublika, around a quarter of Austrians travel for Easter. The majority of holidaymakers deliberately prefer to spend the holidays at home: Six out of ten Easter holidaymakers choose Austria as their destination. ÖHV President Walter Veit emphasizes the high quality of the Austrian hotel industry, which is highly valued by guests.

According to the survey, the most popular federal states for Easter holidays are Styria, followed by Carinthia and Upper Austria. Styria, Austria's "green heart," attracts visitors with a mix of wellness, wine, and nature experiences. Carinthia boasts mild spring weather, its lake landscape, and charming Easter markets. Upper Austria delights with traditional customs, nature, and Easter culture in cities like Linz and Steyr. The most popular activities among Easter holidaymakers are wellness stays, hiking tours, and city trips.

According to Walter Veit, there's still good news for those who decide at short notice: Rooms are still available in all federal states, from city hotels to mountain lodges. Those who book spontaneously still have a chance of having a wonderful Easter experience in Austria. The results of the ÖHV Holiday Radar are based on regular surveys of a representative sample of 1.000 Austrians before the holiday season and provide insight into their travel plans.
