The Kingdom of Belgium has signed a contract for the purchase of 15 H145M multi-role helicopters for its army, as well as two helicopters with three additional options for the federal police. The transaction, managed by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) in cooperation with Airbus Helicopters, aims to strengthen Belgium's military and security capabilities.
Airbus Helicopters CEO Bruno Even expressed his delight at Belgium's decision to add the H145M to its fleet: "The robust multi-role helicopter is increasingly becoming the reference in Europe for tactical air transport, special operations and medical evacuations." He stressed the versatility of the H145M, which can be converted from light attack to special operations roles within minutes.
The H145M is characterized by its extensive operational capabilities, including lifting and external load capabilities, as well as advanced communications and self-protection systems. Powered by two Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines and equipped with Helionix digital avionics, the helicopter also offers a powerful 4-axis autopilot to reduce pilot workload.
Belgium joins the growing group of nations that use the H145M for demanding missions. H145M helicopters are already in use in Germany, the USA, Hungary, Serbia and Thailand, among others. Belgium's decision marks a further step towards modernizing its defense and security infrastructure.
