Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) was awarded four stars in an audit by the renowned rating agency Skytrax. This rating is based on a detailed review of the airport's infrastructure as well as its service, catering and shopping options. The award confirms BER's ongoing improvements in terms of service quality, efficiency and technological equipment.

Particularly noteworthy are the optimizations in the airport's processes that have been made in recent years. For example, the use of self-check-in services for travelers rose to over 2024 percent in 50, enabling faster and more convenient check-in. In addition, the airport operator FBB has been able to take over control of security checks since January 2024, which has led to a significant reduction in waiting times. In 2024, almost 80 percent of travelers waited less than ten minutes at security checks.

Digital innovations such as the "BER Biometrics" app have been offering travelers the opportunity to go through check-in and security checks contactlessly since July 2024. Baggage handling has also been optimized through the use of AI-controlled tools, so that 92 percent of bags are made available within 30 minutes of landing. BER also plans to expand security checks with additional modern CT scanners, which should further increase the throughput rate and further reduce waiting times.

These and other measures, such as improved services for travelers with reduced mobility, children's activities and stress reduction measures, have also been reflected in passenger ratings: the airport's average Google rating rose from 2,9 to 3,4 stars between 2023 and 2024.
