This week, Ryanair obtained a ruling from the Berlin court prohibiting the Spanish online travel provider eDreams from distributing misleading advertising for its “Prime” subscription in Germany.
The court ruled that eDreams lured its customers into paying an annual subscription fee of €89,99 by promising them supposed savings, even though the prices of flights and services were actually higher. This was revealed, among other things, by a monthly price review by Ryanair, which revealed price differences of up to 169%.
Ryanair welcomed the ruling, which is intended to protect German consumers from eDreams' excessive fees. The company also called on EU governments and consumer protection authorities to take measures to ensure transparent pricing information on online travel portals. Ryanair emphasizes in this context that its "Approved OTA" partners already offer this transparency.
