On November 14, 2023, the Gol-operated Boeing 737-800 registration PR-GXT experienced runway quality issues at Navegantes Airport in Brazil.

For reasons that are still unclear, parts of the surface coating are said to have come loose during the acceleration process. These then crashed into the Boeing 737-800 and caused damage that has not yet been quantified.

The Civil Aviation Authority has ordered the airport to be temporarily closed for emergency repairs. After about four hours, operations resumed. The damaged aircraft had to abort the take-off process and could not make the flight to Rio de Janeiro for safety reasons.
