After a long absence, IAG group member British Airways celebrated its comeback at Cologne/Bonn Airport on Monday, October 30, 2023. The carrier is now offering 12 weekly London-Heathrow routes.

It has been a long time since British Airways had a presence with flights to its main hub in Cologne/Bonn. This changed suddenly on Monday, as the IAG subsidiary returned with up to two daily rotations.

“We are extremely pleased that British Airways has now returned to Cologne/Bonn and flies with high frequency to London Heathrow with the hub there,” said Thilo Schmid, CEO of Flughafen Köln/Bonn GmbH. “The new connection is so attractive because it appeals to a large number of passengers – especially from the entire region’s economy. London is one of the most important international economic centers, travelers can fly from Heathrow all over the world thanks to the hub and, last but not least, the metropolis is an extremely exciting destination for city trips.”

British Airways flies to Heathrow twice a day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays (around 12 noon and 20 p.m.), and one flight a day on Tuesdays and Saturdays (around 12 midday). The same frequency previously runs from London to the Rhineland. The Airbus models A319 and A320 are used.

“Cologne is becoming increasingly popular as a cultural center and we are happy to return to a region that we know is popular with both business and leisure travelers. We look forward to welcoming travelers back to our Cologne/Bonn-Heathrow route this winter,” says Jörg Tünsmeyer, Head of Sales for Europe, Africa and the Middle East at British Airways.
