Since the beginning of this week Bulgaria has requested negative PCR results from vaccinated and convalescent persons, which are not older than 72 hours, in order to be able to enter without quarantine. People with EU citizenship or Bulgarian residence permit can also take the test on site within 24 hours.
If you decide to test in Bulgaria, you have to consider that you first start a ten-day quarantine, which is ended immediately if a negative result is found. If you bring a negative result from abroad, no segregation will be imposed. It should be noted that Bulgaria now explicitly requires vaccinated and convalescents to submit a negative PCR test, which must not be older than 72 hours after the smear was taken.
There are exceptions for children under 12 years of age who do not require any documentation. Truck and bus drivers also have relief. Bulgaria is one of the first EU countries to no longer facilitate entry for vaccinated and convalescent people, but instead insists on an additional PCR test. So far, only Malta has practiced particularly strict entry rules, because - apart from the Dark Red Zone - only fully vaccinated people can enter without quarantine. If this cannot be met or if you come from a country that is listed in dark red, a hotel quarantine must be undertaken for a fee.
