The Easter holidays are the first opportunity for many travelers to fly to warmer climes after a long winter. Mediterranean countries such as Spain, Greece, Portugal, and Italy, in particular, experience a surge in tourism during this time. To enjoy maximum flexibility during their vacation, many opt for a rental car. However, rental car prices vary considerably between destinations, which should be considered before booking.
According to an analysis by Sunny Cars, rental car prices in popular destinations vary widely. Mallorca is the most expensive location with a daily price of 73 euros, followed by Barcelona at 58 euros and Madrid at 52 euros. The price difference is particularly striking when it comes to weekly rentals. While travelers in Athens pay just 165 euros for a week's rental car, the same period in Mallorca costs a whopping 514 euros. Greece and Portugal are significantly cheaper in comparison. In Greece, for example, travelers on Corfu can book a rental car for as little as 163 euros for a week. Vacationers can also expect higher prices in Italy, with Rome being one of the more expensive destinations at 340 euros for a week's rental car.
The rising prices during the 2025 Easter holidays are due to the late start to the season. In April, prices in many regions are already noticeably higher than in the previous year. However, those who book early can benefit from good value for money and secure the rental car they want at a lower price.
