Central German airports prepare for holiday rush

Advertising

With the upcoming start of the holidays, the central German airports of Leipzig/Halle and Dresden are preparing for a busy travel season. A total of 81 passenger aircraft are scheduled to take off from these locations next weekend. In addition to flights to German and European cities, the flight schedule will focus primarily on sunny destinations on the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and the Black and Red Seas.

From the Leipzig/Halle Airport 32 flights to popular sunny destinations and 13 scheduled flights are planned for the start of the holiday season. Thirteen flights depart for Antalya, while Palma de Mallorca and Hurghada will each be served six times. Heraklion will be served three times. Other destinations include Varna, Rhodes, Corfu, Jerez de la Frontera, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Tenerife, Faro, and Tirana. The airline Marabout is the largest holiday airline at the Leipzig/Halle location and offers the most options for starting your summer holiday with 14 departures. Sun Express with eight starts and Condor and Freebird Airlines with four departures each contribute to the offering. In addition, 13 scheduled flights to hubs are planned, including ten to Frankfurt, two to Istanbul, and one connection to Vienna, providing access to numerous destinations worldwide.

The Dresden Airport plans to operate 12 holiday planes and 14 scheduled flights at the start of the holiday season. Five aircraft will take off for Antalya, three to Palma de Mallorca. Additional connections will be made to Burgas, Heraklion, and Rhodes. Lufthansa offers the most frequent connections from Dresden to its hubs Frankfurt (eight times) and Munich (six times). Swiss International Air Lines connects the Saxon capital with Zurich on Sunday. These hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, and Zurich provide convenient connections to global destinations.

Given the expected high demand, travelers at both airports are strongly advised to reserve their parking spaces online in advance. This should reduce waiting times and ensure a smooth start to their vacation. The detailed flight schedules demonstrate the diversity of destinations offered and underscore the importance of the Central German airports for regional and international travel.
