The Cologne public prosecutor's office has had a manager of the tour operator Itravel taken into custody. The person responsible for the company, who is presumed innocent, is accused of delaying insolvency and commercial fraud.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the company is said to have sold luxury trips to private individuals, but did not pay for the services offered to airlines, hotels and other service providers. This caused considerable inconvenience for customers on package tours. At the holiday destination, the service providers would often have insisted on direct payment from the travelers, otherwise no service would have been provided. The tour operator repeatedly promised refunds, which, according to the public prosecutor's office, did not occur.
