German holiday airline Condor is expanding its route network for the summer flight schedule 2026 and returning to two important regional locations in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.
From May 1, 2026, the airline will resume daily flights from Palma de Mallorca to Dortmund (DTM) and Münster/Osnabrück Airport (FMO). These connections were discontinued in October 2024 for operational reasons. The resumption of these services is the company's response to the continued high demand for package holidays and individual flights to the Balearic island, which is considered the most important single tourist destination in German air traffic.
Condor is using different aircraft capacities for its flights. An Airbus A321 from its own fleet, with approximately 210 seats, is being used on the Dortmund route. The Münster/Osnabrück connection, on the other hand, is being operated by its partner company Heston Airlines with an Airbus A320 under a wet-lease agreement. Industry analyses indicate that this strategic decision will intensify competition at regional airports, as Condor is now directly competing with carriers like Eurowings, which also serve these locations frequently. The daily schedule is intended to allow tour operators, in particular, to plan their flight allotments more reliably.
Additional market observations highlight that Condor's return to Dortmund Airport fills an important gap in the summer flight schedule, as the airport is increasingly focusing on tourist traffic to stabilize passenger numbers. The capacity expansion is also viewed positively at Münster/Osnabrück Airport, as the daily rotations significantly enhance the airport's appeal in the holiday flight segment. The cooperation with Heston Airlines allows Condor to keep its own fleet available for longer routes or busy hubs like Frankfurt and Munich, while regional connections are ensured through external partners.
From an economic perspective, the resumption of these routes is part of a consolidation strategy with which Condor aims to regain market share in the short- and medium-haul sector. The Balearic Islands recently recorded record booking figures for 2026, prompting the airline to significantly increase its capacity during the summer months. Experts point out that choosing regional airports is advantageous for Condor, as they often have lower fees and faster handling processes than major hubs. Tickets for the new connections are already available for booking through global reservation systems and major travel portals.
