Zurich-Kloten Airport is carrying out some construction work in the 2023/24 winter flight schedule. These also affect some of the baggage carousels in the Check-In 1 area. This means that a total of 23 counters cannot be used temporarily.

The baggage handling systems in Check-in 1 at Zurich Airport have reached the end of their service life and must be replaced. In a first step, the 2023 facilities in the north of Check-in 2024 will be replaced between the end of October 23 and March 1. During the 2024/25 winter flight schedule, the facilities in the south of the hall will follow. The work takes place during the winter months because the number of passengers is lower during this time. The affected counter areas will be completely cordoned off and separated by construction walls. Noise and dust emissions are reduced to a minimum.

The counters for First, Senator, Star Gold and Business Class passengers of the Lufthansa Group (Swiss, Edelweiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines) and Croatia Airlines will remain in Check-in 1, but will be moved from the north in this first construction phase moved to the south of the hall.

The counters for economy class customers of the Lufthansa Group (LHG) will be completely relocated to Check-in 3 for the first construction phase. In addition to the self-bag drop counters and conventional check-in counters, LHG will also offer PRM, family and sports counters. Vueling and Easy Jet will be temporarily moved from check-in 3 to check-in 2, row 3. In addition, during this construction phase the check-in for TAP Air Portugal will be moved from Check-in 2 to Check-in 1.
