Croatia introduces new quality label for private accommodation

Croatia has introduced a new brand for private accommodations, called "Your Host" or "Local Host." Minister of Tourism and Sports Tonči Glavina and Director of the Croatian National Tourist Board Kristjan Staničić presented the label, which is intended to promote the availability of authentic, high-quality private accommodations. The goal is to highlight traditional Croatian hospitality as a special tourist experience.

The label can be applied for by anyone who complies with applicable regulations as a host and meets established criteria. These criteria include the authenticity of the offer, the degree of hospitality, and the quality of guest service and information. Minister Glavina emphasized that private accommodation is a tradition of Croatian tourism and a feature that distinguishes Croatia from the competition. The label is intended to increase the visibility of authentic hosts on the domestic and international markets.

The process for obtaining the label has been deliberately kept simple and involves completing an online self-assessment form via the eVisitor system. Successful hosts receive the label in the form of a plaque for display at the entrance to their accommodation, as well as in digital form for online communication. Director Staničić explained that the systematic promotion of private accommodation is of great importance, as Croatia has the greatest capacity in this area. The label is intended to distinguish committed hosts from ordinary landlords.

The label is valid for three years; after that, a renewed self-assessment and approval is required to maintain the high quality standards. Hosts who bear the label benefit from special prominence among private landlords and specifically target guests seeking an authentic and hospitable experience. They also benefit from targeted promotional activities by the Croatian National Tourist Board on international markets and booking platforms, which aims to establish the label as a synonym for quality and reliability.
