There are new findings in connection with two parcel fires at DHL that were allegedly initiated by Russia.
According to reports, the affected shipments contain highly flammable magnesium, which is particularly difficult to extinguish and can reach temperatures of over 2.500 degrees Celsius. These incidents, which took place in the DHL air freight centers in Leipzig and Birmingham, are now being investigated by international anti-terrorism investigators.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the packages sent in Lithuania were disguised as massage devices, but actually contained incendiary devices. The Federal Prosecutor's Office in Germany has taken over the investigation and has already arrested several suspects. Security authorities are warning of further possible incidents and recommend that companies sensitize their employees to security risks.
In response to the incidents, DHL has taken measures to protect its infrastructure and shipments. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the Federal Criminal Police Office had previously issued a security advisory pointing out the possible introduction of unconventional incendiary devices into parcel shipments.
