Dispute over Volocopter: Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg are fighting over a start-up

The two federal states are facing each other in a dispute over state guarantees and the possible relocation of the air taxi start-up Volocopter from Baden-Württemberg to Bavaria. While the CSU sees the opportunity as an innovative step for Bavaria, the Free Voters faction leader warns against high-risk investments at the expense of the taxpayer.

The Baden-Württemberg company Volocopter received permission for series production of its electric air taxis in March. But there was no state guarantee from Baden-Württemberg, which could lead to a possible move to Bavaria. The situation highlights the debate about government support for pioneering technology companies and the economic viability of such investments.
