The shareholders' meeting of Dortmund Airport has prematurely extended the contract with Managing Director Ludger van Bebber until September 2030. Van Bebber, who has held the position since 2020, will thus lead the airport's fortunes for another five years. The industrial engineer was previously Managing Director of Weeze Airport for a long time and, as Vice President of the Airport Association ADV, is particularly committed to smaller airports.
Under his leadership, Dortmund Airport recovered faster than many other German airports after the coronavirus pandemic. Passenger numbers not only reached pre-crisis levels, but recently exceeded them with new record figures. In 2024, the airport exceeded the three million passenger mark for the first time. In addition to passenger growth, the economic situation also improved. In addition, a permit procedure that had been in place since 2010 to extend operating hours was resolved.
Ulrich Jaeger, DSW21 Transport Director and Chairman of the Airport's Supervisory Board, praised van Bebber's work and emphasized the importance of his leadership during the crisis. The airport's rapid recovery after the pandemic and the continuous positive development are a clear sign of the managing director's successful work. The early contract extension is intended to ensure the continuity of the positive development at Dortmund Airport.
