The Turkish airline Pegasus Air has started a non-stop connection between Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen and Dortmund. The German airport celebrated this event in a big way.

“The introduction of the route to Istanbul-Sabiha Gökçen is a significant milestone for Dortmund Airport; it meets the high demand for direct flight options from the Ruhr area to Turkey,” emphasizes Ludger van Bebber. “The Bosphorus itself is reason enough to take the trip. “Pegasus’ wide range of destinations from the Istanbul hub also opens up other fascinating travel opportunities around the globe,” continues van Bebber. Last year, the airport, located on the Asian side of Istanbul, recorded more than 30 million passengers, making it one of the largest airports in Turkey.
