The German Dortmund Airport will conduct an emergency drill on Saturday, August 21, 2021 between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. A serious accident is simulated.
When the emergency alarm sounds on Saturday morning in the fire station at Dortmund Airport, the emergency exercise prescribed by the International Civil Air Organization (ICAO) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) starts. A collision between two aircraft on the apron is simulated as an accident scenario. The focus of the exercise is on fighting aircraft fires and rescuing people. In addition, internal communication between all instances is trained.
The airport exercise at Dortmund Airport takes place in the security area of the airport. Public roads and entrances will not be closed on the day of the exercise. Flight operations are also not affected. Commercial airports are legally obliged to carry out an aircraft accident drill every two years.
