Dortmund introduces automated baggage check-in with Wizz Air

Since the beginning of May, passengers traveling with Wizz Air at Dortmund Airport have been able to check in their checked baggage quickly and easily themselves. The airport has implemented two automated self bag drop counters to reduce waiting times and optimize the travel experience. This contemporary service allows passengers to either leave their luggage with check-in staff or use the new automated process.

Operating the switches is simple and intuitive: after scanning the boarding pass, there are seven languages to choose from to guide the process. The baggage is automatically measured, weighed and checked for the airline's baggage regulations before the baggage label is printed. The passenger attaches the label visibly to the piece of luggage and receives a luggage tag as a receipt.

It should be noted that the service can only be used by passengers who already have a valid boarding pass. Travelers without checked baggage or with excess baggage must report to the regular check-in counter. For the time being, the service is only available for travel with Wizz Air and the opening times of the machines are tied to the airline's regular baggage drop-off times.
