Emirates airline is about to introduce the Airbus A350 aircraft into its fleet and has made a remarkable investment of around 48 million US dollars in preparation for this. This investment is intended to significantly increase the quality and efficiency of the training of its pilots and cabin crew. By using state-of-the-art simulation equipment and specially developed support systems, Emirates is cementing its reputation as an innovation leader in the aviation industry.
At the heart of this innovation are three fully mobile full-flight simulators for the Airbus A350, which are equipped with the industry-first Pilot Support System (PSS). This system was developed entirely in-house at Emirates and enables an interactive, immersive training experience. During the briefing phase, the trainees can create a virtual cockpit setup, which is continued seamlessly in the simulator. In addition, the debriefing mode allows a detailed debriefing in which the instructor can analyze and improve the crew's performance.
Emirates' Airbus A350 simulators have already received the highest certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), confirming the advanced technology and efficiency of these systems. The first of these simulators was certified without any complaints, a rare and impressive result in the field of flight simulation technology. This quality ensures that Emirates pilots are optimally prepared for flight operations and confidently master the necessary skills.
Another highlight of the investment is the static training unit, which realistically replicates the cockpit of the A350 and is equipped with visual and acoustic systems. This unit makes it possible to simulate specific training scenarios, including emergency and evacuation training. Emirates also plans to open a state-of-the-art training center, which will house a total of six simulators for the A350 and Boeing 777X.
With this initiative, Emirates is underlining its long-term strategy and innovative strength. In total, almost 30 pilots and 820 cabin crew members have already been trained for the A350. By the end of the year, over 50 pilots are expected to have completed their training on the new simulators. In addition, Emirates is working closely with IATA and Airbus to develop a competency-based training program for A350 type rating.
