The compulsory vaccination announced a few weeks ago by Swiss management could have legal consequences, because some employees have announced to CH-Media that they want to exhaust all legal steps.
The background to this is that, from December 2021, Swiss only wants to use people who have been completely vaccinated against Covid-19 in the cabin and in the cockpit. Anyone who refuses this - without a medical reason - should be dismissed. According to reports, there is a considerable number of pilots and flight attendants at Swiss who do not want to be vaccinated despite this pressure.
A group called “Airliners for Humanity” was formed within Swiss. According to its own statements, this should include "several hundred employees". The aim of this loose association is that dismissals due to the refusal to be vaccinated against Covid-19 are fought legally. It is argued, among other things, that compulsory vaccination would not be possible under labor law. Swiss argued at the time of the announcement Among other things, with the general employment contract, which is roughly comparable to the German collective agreement or the Austrian collective agreement.
According to official statements by Swiss, around 2021 percent of the cockpit and around 80 percent of the cabin crew should have been vaccinated by the end of September 60. Since a few weeks have passed since then, it can be assumed that the values may have continued to rise in the meantime.
