With the start of the Easter holidays, Munich Airport is facing the first major travel wave of the year. Between April 11 and 27, 2025, approximately 15.000 flight movements to 189 different destinations are planned. Passenger volumes are expected to be particularly high on the first holiday weekend: From Friday to Sunday, almost 2.800 takeoffs and landings with over 380.000 passengers are expected. In total, Munich Airport expects more than two million travelers in the next two weeks.
The most popular destinations from Munich are both in Europe and on other continents. Within Europe, Italy, Spain, Greece, and Turkey enjoy great popularity, with around 4.300 flights. Intercontinental flights are also experiencing strong demand, with over 760 connections to 20 destinations in the United States and Canada. Destinations in the Far East, particularly Thailand and Vietnam, remain in demand, with over 86 flight movements. A new direct connection also takes travelers to Windhoek, Namibia, 14 times.
To ensure travelers have the smoothest possible start to their vacation, Munich Airport recommends informing themselves in advance about the current entry and security regulations for their destination country. It is also recommended to use online check-in and, if possible, drop off luggage the evening before. On the day of travel, passengers should allow sufficient time for travel to the airport and for the procedures in the terminal. To expedite security checks, passengers are advised to reduce their carry-on luggage to the essentials and to stow electronic devices and liquids in an easily accessible location. Although modern scanners at Munich Airport no longer require the separate presentation of liquids, the international limit of a maximum of 100 milliliters per container remains in place for the time being. Travelers with their own vehicles can reserve a parking space online in advance. Aside from flight operations, the airport also offers an entertainment program during the Easter holidays, including an Easter brunch and a family festival in the visitor park.
