Austrian aerospace supplier FACC has been honored as “Supplier of the Year” in the Aerostructures category for the third time in a row by Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer.
At a ceremony in São José dos Campos, CEO Robert Machtlinger and Andreas Furthmayr accepted the award, which was given to only ten partner companies worldwide. This recognition underscores the operational performance and delivery reliability of the company from Ried im Innkreis, which has maintained a continuously growing business relationship with the world's third-largest aircraft manufacturer since 2006. Since 2024, FACC has also served as a member of Embraer's Supplier Advisory Council, thus directly influencing strategic decisions within the group's supply chain.
The collaboration spans several business units and aircraft types, with FACC supplying complex structural components such as ailerons, spoilers, and flap carrier fairings for the manufacturer's passenger jet families. A key growth driver is currently the business jet segment: a major order for the interior of the Praetor series was recently announced. In addition to traditional aerostructures, the Advanced Air Mobility division is gaining importance. Together with Embraer subsidiary Eve Air Mobility, FACC is developing key components for electrically powered vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, including the complete horizontal and vertical stabilizers as well as specific wing elements for this new class of aircraft.
For Austria as a business location, deepening this partnership will have a significant impact on employment figures and regional value creation. FACC acts as the anchor company for a network of local specialists such as F/LIST, Antemo, and Isovolta, which are involved as subcontractors in global projects. Given the projected increases in production rates for short- and medium-haul aircraft as well as business jets, further capacity expansion is expected at the Upper Austrian sites. Furthermore, integration into the Advisory Council enables Austrian engineers to participate in shaping technological standards at an early stage, thus securing competitiveness against international rivals.
Additional market analyses indicate that Embraer intends to further expand its market share in the regional jet and business aviation sectors in the coming years, which translates into long-term capacity utilization for FACC's production lines. Technological collaboration in the development of lightweight composite components forms the backbone for more efficient aircraft structures. The close integration of development and manufacturing between Brazil and Austria increases operational efficiency, while simultaneously strengthening strategic independence from other major manufacturers through a diversified customer base.
