The Viennese confectionery Sluka, an institution of coffee house culture since 1891, is presenting a refined version of the popular Donauwelle to mark the Strauss anniversary. The new creation was presented at an event in the Logenlichthof of the confectionery Sluka in the presence of representatives from business, the media and the city of Vienna.
The Sluka Donauwelle is made by hand and with high-quality ingredients. The traditional recipe was refined in collaboration with the pastry chef Christian Schaberreiter. The characteristic wave pattern of the Donauwelle is reminiscent of the “Danube Waltz” by Johann Strauss.
With this anniversary Donauwelle, the Sluka confectionery would like to make a contribution to the Strauss year and honor the cultural legacy of the waltz king. The Donauwelle will be available from February at both of the Sluka confectionery's locations on Kärntner Strasse and on Rathausplatz. The Sluka confectionery is known for its pastry creations for special occasions and plays an important role in the lives of its customers.
