Frankfurt closes the northwest runway

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

From December 14, 2020, Frankfurt am Main Airport will once again shut down the northwest runway and use it as a parking space for aircraft. Due to the low demand, this is currently not required for air traffic.

However, Fraport AG did not inform us which airlines intend to park unused machines on this runway. Lufthansa has meanwhile flew numerous aircraft from airports with warmer climatic conditions. The “parking prices” in Frankfurt are also considered high.

The operator also declares that the other three runways should remain in operation. Terminal 2 is currently closed. Now other areas of Terminal 1 will also be temporarily closed. Lufthansa announced a few weeks ago that a significant part of the administration would go into hibernation.
