Paul Rittenauer's summer pop-up "Freiluft" is moving to Vienna's northeastern Augarten for the first time this year. At the initiative of cultural manager Danielle Spera, chair of the Augarten Atelier's board of trustees, the focus will be on art. Until eight years ago, the spacious area hosted Francesca Habsburg's TBA21 Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary exhibition and is now once again becoming a cultural attraction in the Austrian capital.
Paul Rittenauer announces that the "open-air" concept has been further developed into a holistic experience in which art and culinary delights are harmoniously combined. During the summer months, art will be relocated from the museum to the open air, creating a new hotspot for enjoyment and culture. A diverse program with readings, performances, concerts, and tastings awaits guests. In the former Gustinus Ambrosi studio, an exhibition entitled "Augarten Summer" will feature works by twelve artists, including Sabine Aichhorn, Angela Andorrer, and Naomi Devil, with free admission. The show is intended to bridge cultures and eras and showcase the Augarten in all its diversity. Complementing this, eight sculptures, including those by Elisabeth von Samsonow and Talos Kedl, will adorn the park landscape.
The "Freiluft" (open air) in the Augarten, open from June 17 to August 31, 2025, also offers culinary diversity with catering partners such as "TENNO SUSHI," "Ragazzi, Pinsa!", "Nigls Gastwirtschaft," and the "Langos Bar." There are also sporting activities such as outdoor training sessions with "PY Studio" and "Mindful Body Experience" with Magdalena Kim Novak, as well as running clubs. Various events such as the Vintage Market Vienna (July 11 to 13), the "Ö3 Silent Disco" (August 23), and the "Hippie & Goa Market" (August 30) round out the summer program.
