From February 22, 2022, new rules will apply to entry into Austria. These are much looser than the currently valid regulation. The key is that the system will be switched to 3G detection and that rapid antigen test results will also be accepted again.
Austria is currently practicing what is known as the 2G Plus rule. This means that only people who can prove three vaccinations against Covid-19 are exempt from quarantine or an additional PCR test. All others - apart from groups of people who fall under general exceptions - require a negative PCR test, which can also be done later in Austria.
From February 22, 2022, the situation described in the previous paragraph will fall. From this date, quarantine-free entry into Austria from all countries (except for virus variant areas, which currently do not exist) is possible with 3G proof. Accepted are PCR results that are no more than 72 hours old, rapid antigen test results from official agencies that are no more than 24 hours old, proof of recovery and proof of vaccination. It should be noted that antigen self-tests will not be accepted. The findings or the certificate must be issued by an official test center. Any costs abroad must be borne by yourself.
Those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered must note that the validity of their documents will be reduced from 270 days to 180 days. This does not apply to people who have been vaccinated three times, for whom 270 days still apply.
Minors under the age of 3 are generally exempt from the 12G obligation. These do not require any proof. 12G proof must be provided over the age of 3. The same regulations apply as for adults.
