In cooperation with Airpotr, the low-cost airline Easyjet is now offering the collection and delivery of luggage. Travelers who use the paid service no longer have to hand in their suitcases at the counter or pick them up at the conveyor belt themselves.
In the introductory phase, the service, subject to a surcharge, will be available on selected routes to/from London-Gatwick and Geneva. Easyjet justifies the introduction of the new cooperation service by saying that evaluations have shown that at least 40 percent of passengers would be interested in using it.
The following services can initially be booked:
- Departure: Customers departing from London Gatwick or Geneva can now leave their luggage at a designated pickup point, e.g. B. at the office or hotel, which is then picked up by an accredited driver and collected from the baggage carousel upon arrival at the destination.
- Arrivals: Customers arriving in Geneva from any easyJet airport can request delivery of their luggage to their final destination, e.g. E.g. home or to your hotel.
- Door-to-door: Customers flying from London Gatwick to Geneva can book a door-to-door service – a completely seamless baggage experience that means customers can check in their luggage from home and have it delivered to their final destination.
Passengers who book the so-called Flexi fare between Geneva and London Gatwick (and vice versa) have already included the new service. All other passengers can book it for an additional charge. It is currently still completely unclear whether Easyjet will expand its cooperation with Airportr to the entire route network or not.
“Today’s announcement that we are launching Airportr at two of easyJet’s major airports is another significant step forward for off-airport baggage management. Travelers continue to value speed and convenience and are increasingly turning to non-airport processes to achieve this. As an airline, easyJet strives to get its customers through the airport faster while giving them the best experience when traveling with luggage. We are pleased that Airportr can support easyJet in this task, as baggage-free travel to, through and from airports is now possible,” said Sophie Dekkers, Chief Commercial Officer at Easyjet.
