Hamburg Airport has completed the maintenance and repair work on runway 05/23 (Niendorf/Langenhorn) as planned. Since yesterday, both runways have been available for flight operations again.

Project manager Martin Borstelmann stressed that the work went as planned and the runway surfaces are now safe and usable. The renewal of the top layer of taxiway D1 will continue until October 1, 2024, which may lead to some restrictions. Due to new EASA requirements, regular monitoring and maintenance will also be required in the future to ensure the safety of the runways.
