A first Advent with new connections for Innsbruck Airport: Within a few hours, two new inaugural flights from Madrid and Warsaw were welcomed. With a warm celebration, musical accompaniment and a traditional reception, these flights marked not only an expansion of the route network, but also a significant strengthening of Tyrol's tourist and economic connections.

The first highlight of the day was the arrival of Iberia flight IB801 from Madrid. With 67 passengers on board, the Airbus A320neo landed at 09:13 in glorious winter weather. This new direct connection, which will be offered on Wednesdays and Sundays until March 26, 2025, connects Innsbruck to the Madrid hub. Madrid Airport is not only an important hub for European travelers, but also opens doors to North and South America.

Carmen Giraud, Sales Manager Europe at Iberia, underlined the strategic importance of this connection: "Innsbruck is now our third destination in Austria and the 143rd in the global network. With 11.500 seats available this winter season, we expect strong demand, both from Spanish guests and Tyrolean travelers."

Iberia's membership in the oneworld alliance and the International Airline Group (IAG), which also includes British Airways, opens up a wide range of combination options for international air travel.

A Polish Welcome from Warsaw

The second inaugural flight followed in the afternoon: at 15:12 p.m., a LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 63 passengers from Warsaw landed in Innsbruck. The connection will be offered until March 30, 2025 and offers another option for Polish guests who choose Tyrol as a winter holiday destination. Poland is one of the top 10 source markets for Tyrol, which underlines the economic and tourist potential of this route.

Marco Pernetta, Managing Director of Innsbruck Airport, expressed his enthusiasm: "These two new connections are milestones for our airport and show that Innsbruck remains attractive not only for tourists but also for business partners."

In addition, Tyrolean travelers also benefit from the new connection, as Warsaw Airport serves as a hub for a variety of international destinations.

  • Eurowings: Increase in the Hamburg connection to five weekly flights from 16 December.
  • EasyJet: Launch of a new direct service to Birmingham every Sunday from 15 December.
