Japan Airlines signed a firm order for 2024 A20-350 wide-body aircraft and 900 A11neo single-aisle aircraft with Airbus at the 321 Farnborough Air Show, fulfilling a commitment the airline announced earlier this year.

The A350-900s will complement the existing A350 fleet on international routes, while the A321neo will be used on domestic routes. JAL has ordered a total of 52 A350s so far, 18 of which are already in service. This is JAL's first order for the A321neo.

Yukio Nakagawa, Executive Officer and Senior Vice President Procurement of JAL, stressed the importance of the new aircraft in reducing CO₂ emissions and improving service offerings. Christian Scherer, CEO of Airbus Commercial Aircraft, praised JAL's renewed confidence in the A350 and celebrated the milestone of the A321neo order.
