At the invitation of Austrian Airlines, ten representatives of Carinthian travel agencies visited Vienna Airport to see for themselves the ideal transfer options at the hub. The trip began early in the morning at 05:45 a.m. with a flight from Klagenfurt to Vienna, operated by Braathens on behalf of Austrian Airlines. The aim was to test the new connection from Klagenfurt and to get to know the advantages of Vienna Airport for Carinthian travelers.

Susanne Hermetter from Springer Reisen praised the initiative: “It is extremely important to always be able to provide our customers with up-to-date and precise advice. The local inspection of the short distances for connecting passengers will help us a lot in sales.” Maximilian Wildt, Managing Director at Klagenfurt Airport, emphasized the importance of local travel agencies and thanked Austrian Airlines for organizing the information day. Bernhard Hamela, District Key Account Manager at Austrian Airlines, highlighted the optimized flight times and the new early and late flights, which now offer optimal transfer options via Vienna.

Since April 2024, Austrian Airlines has been offering 13 weekly connections between Klagenfurt and Vienna, resulting in passenger growth of over 11% in April. This development suggests strong growth for Klagenfurt Airport in 2024, after a weaker first quarter.
