In Carinthian politics, there is still a dispute about Klagenfurt Airport, because the audit report by the State Audit Office caused a stir. According to this, the old shareholders, the city of Klagenfurt and the state of Carinthia, should not have received any money in the course of the partial privatization. The Lilihill Group carried out a capital increase and received 74,9 percent of the shares. Irrespective of this, the airport has extended its operating hours and Austrian Airlines is now flying twice a day again in some cases.

According to the report, the strategy agreed with the city and the country should provide that land that is not necessary for flight operations will be sold by 2021. This should generate around 10,19 million euros. The agreement also provides for all measures to be taken to secure the airport location in the long term and for the city and state of Klagenfurt to agree.

The opposition in the municipal and state parliaments is foaming again and suspects renewed lack of transparency, particularly due to the fact that Lilihill wants to renegotiate the purchase agreement and can even imagine increasing the stake. The company and the state of Carinthia refer to the confidentiality of the discussions. The opposition demands that the state and the city "put the cards on the table".

In terms of flying, there is also news in Carinthia. The operating times were severely restricted in the course of the corona lockdown and gradually expanded again. Klagenfurt Airport is now open from 6:00 a.m. to 23:30 p.m. Austrian Airlines will operate the Vienna connection twice a day on selected days.
