Vienna-Schwechat Airport and Korean Air have agreed on a strategic partnership. This is intended to increase air freight volumes at Austria's largest airport through targeted marketing activities that are primarily aimed at freight forwarders.

The geographical location of Vienna plays an important role for the South Korean carrier. In a media statement it is written that the airport should also be a gateway for Korean Air to surrounding countries such as Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

“We are pleased to announce our collaboration with Vienna Airport. With this agreement, Korean Air strives to improve air cargo services between Korea and Vienna and increase customer satisfaction,” said Jaedong Eum, Senior Vice President and Head of Cargo Business Division at Korean Air.

“The neighboring countries of Austria and Asia have been economic areas for many years that have been closely linked to one another through international air freight traffic. Especially in the automotive and electronics sectors, Asian companies are dependent on the production capacities in Eastern Europe. Korean Air has been an important air freight partner for 20 years and I am pleased that we can now further expand our long-standing partnership in the freight sector with this agreement,” said Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.
