In spring, numerous winemakers in Lower Austria traditionally open their wine cellars to showcase their young wines. This year, the wine spring events along the Danube in the Wachau, Kremstal, Kamptal, Traisental, Wagram, and Carnuntum wine-growing regions invite you to a variety of tastings of the new vintage until the end of May. Despite the challenges of 2024, with late frost, hail, and flooding reducing harvest yields, winemakers are optimistic about the quality of the young wines and are celebrating this extensively.

The Petronella Wine Spring kicks off the regional wine spring festival on April 26th, with local wineries showcasing their new vintages and vineyards. On the same weekend, April 26th and 27th, around 220 wineries in the Kamptal, Kremstal, and Traisental valleys will open their doors for the joint wine spring event. Over 70 wineries will offer initial tasting opportunities on Friday afternoon. To ensure convenient travel and safe enjoyment of the wines, special Wine Spring buses will be deployed; their use is included in the €35 admission price. Traveling to Krems by train is also a convenient option.

Further highlights are planned for the beginning of May. On May 3rd and 4th, over 100 winegrowers from Vinea Wachau will be inviting visitors to the Wachau Wine Spring. With an entry wristband for 40 euros, visitors can sample wines from numerous wineries along the Danube and use local buses, the Wachau Railway, and the Danube ferries free of charge. At the same time, the Wagram region will be presenting itself from May 3rd to 29th with the "Lössfrühling," which includes wine tastings, culinary offerings, and tours of the characteristic loess landscape. Part of this is the "Wagram Wine Spring" on May 3rd and 4th, when over 100 winegrowers will be opening their doors. Also on May 3rd and 4th, the "Tour de Vin" will take place in the Kamptal, Kremstal, Traisental, and Wagram, where 41 wineries will be inviting visitors to taste the new vintage and offer a diverse supporting program.
