The logistics company Deutsche Post-DHL is currently struggling with a severe slump in air freight. The magnitude is extremely significant, because according to the company's own information, sales have fallen by 48,8 percent.

In the third quarter of the current financial year alone, DHL was faced with 12,2 percent less volume. The group of companies explained, among other things, that demand on routes between Asia and Europe, Asia and the USA and within the Asia-Pacific region has declined significantly. In addition, freight rates have fallen again due to great competition. The sum of the factors led to sales falling by 48,4 percent.

This also has consequences for the group result, because Deutsche Post-DHL had to announce that it would have to reduce the forecast EBIT for the full year 2023 to a range between 6,2 and 6,6 billion euros. Most recently, sales were 19,4 billion euros, around 20 percent less than in the same period last year.
