Lufthansa City Airlines starts flight operations as planned

The Lufthansa Group has launched a new airline, Lufthansa City Airlines, which began operations on June 26, 2024. The first flight with the flight number VL 2508 took an Airbus A320neo, named after the city of Coburg (D-AIJI), on time from Munich to Birmingham. The aircraft then served the routes to Düsseldorf and Bremen.

Lufthansa City Airlines was founded to strengthen the Lufthansa Group's regional route network and respond more flexibly to demand. With a modern fleet and a focus on efficiency and customer service, the new airline is expected to play an important role in European short- and medium-haul traffic.
