Lufthansa once had its own ground staff at many German airports who took care of the processing of passengers. A few years ago people were of the opinion that it would be cheaper if you relied on external service providers. Now that could change again.

CEO Carsten Spohr criticizes the fact that numerous German ground handling providers have still managed to get their personnel problems under control. He now told the newspaper “Tagesspiegel” that they were considering terminating the contracts and bringing the handling back into their own group. He also suggested that employers might not be attractive enough.
