The Verdi union is calling on Lufthansa ground staff at Frankfurt am Main, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart airports to stop work on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. The Kranich Group expects that only 10 to 20 percent of the flights can be carried out.

According to Verdi's announcement, the strike will begin on February 20, 2024 at 4 a.m. and end on Wednesday at 00:7 a.m. Just a few days ago, flight operations came to a virtual standstill due to a similar call from the union. Not only Lufthansa Group airlines are affected by restrictions, but also carriers on whose behalf the Kranich employees provide ground transport services.

According to Verdi, the latest negotiations did not produce the desired result. Therefore, a new strike is being called to increase the pressure on management. It is about a collective remuneration agreement that affects around 25.000 employees at Lufthansa and its subsidiaries.

The crane airline assumes that only ten to 20 percent of flights can be operated on the day of the strike. Passengers would be informed of any cancellations as quickly as possible. At the same time, Lufthansa is asking passengers to only travel to the respective airport if their booked flight has expressly not been canceled.
