Lufthansa negotiations on company pension schemes stall

Advertising

The negotiations between the Lufthansa, the lufthansa Cargo and the pilots' union Association Cockpit (VC) The negotiations on company pension schemes (bAV) remain inconclusive. No breakthrough was achieved after the most recent round of negotiations. The Cockpit Association expresses disappointment at the ongoing standstill and criticizes the lack of a negotiable offer from Lufthansa.

According to Heike Wagner , spokesperson for the Vereinigung Cockpit pilots' union, there has been no significant progress after months of negotiations. Lufthansa has refused to make any concrete financial commitments. Instead, it has only offered minimal improvements to pension benefits, but only on the condition that these be offset elsewhere within the collective bargaining agreements. The union sees this as an attempt to effectively make the employees themselves finance any improvements. This approach is met with incomprehension by the VC, especially given the company's recently announced increase in operating profit.

Company pension plans are considered an essential component of employee compensation and are therefore a central issue in the collective bargaining negotiations. The union emphasizes that, despite the lack of progress, it will leave no stone unturned. The collective bargaining commission has therefore again called on Lufthansa to finally submit a viable offer. To continue the talks, further negotiation dates have already been set for the end of August and the beginning of September.

The VC says it will continue to keep its members closely informed about the status of the negotiations. The current standstill highlights the differences of opinion between the company and the pilots regarding the design of the pension plan and the distribution of the financial flexibility that has arisen due to Lufthansa's positive business performance.
