The de Havilland Dash 8-300 with the registration SE-MAA, operated by the Swedish Coast Guard, had to make an unscheduled safety landing at Luqa Airport in Malta on January 31, 2024.
The plane was on its way to Stockholm with three passengers on board. Shortly after take-off from Luqa, the pilots discovered a hydraulic problem in the landing gear area. For safety reasons it was decided to complete a return landing. This was completed successfully after about half an hour. As a precautionary measure, the fire brigade and emergency teams were on hand, but fortunately their services were not needed.
