A man illegally stopped air traffic at Hamburg Airport by walking across the airport field. The federal police have filed a criminal complaint against him for trespassing.

The 29-year-old will now have to bear the costs of the police operation himself, the exact amount of which remains unclear for the time being. The man reportedly tried to take a shortcut across the airport apron on Sunday afternoon. To do this, he climbed over one of the fences at the edge. Emergency services caught him shortly afterwards. Air traffic had to be stopped for around 20 minutes, an airport spokeswoman said. However, according to the police, there was no threat to aviation security.
