On Monday, the first of two new superstructure cars for the Mariazellerbahn was delivered to the Alpenbahnhof operations center in St. Pölten.

The car, which was specially designed for the maintenance of the historic narrow-gauge line, is to go into operation after it has been approved for use. The Lower Austrian Transport Organisation Company (NÖVOG) is investing a total of 7,2 million euros in modern vehicles to make maintenance work on the 115-year-old line more efficient and self-sufficient. The new vehicles, including a motor tower car that will be delivered in 2025, are essential to ensuring the quality of public transport in the Pielachtal.
