Memmingen Airport recorded the most successful year in its history in 2024. With a total of 3.242.090 passengers, the previous year's figure was exceeded by 14,8 percent. The Christmas period in particular ensured high capacity utilization. The three millionth passenger of the year was welcomed at the beginning of December, a milestone for the largest low-cost airport in southern Germany. Managing Director Ralf Schmid expects further growth for 2025 and believes the 3,5 million passenger mark is achievable.

A key success factor is the mix of holiday and commuter destinations, especially in Eastern Europe. Destinations such as Sofia, Belgrade, Pristina and Tirana are very popular with commuters and those in the care profession. In addition to Mallorca, which is the frontrunner, cities such as London, Skopje and Rome are also among the most popular destinations. In total, more than 31.000 flight movements were counted, an increase of 7,8 percent. Scheduled flights grew particularly strongly at 15 percent.

The regional economy also benefits from the airport's growth. The increasing number of business jets that bring companies from all over the world to Memmingen is strengthening the location. Last year, planes from Vancouver, Los Angeles and Japan landed. With this offering, the airport is considered an important hub for medium-sized companies in the region.

Memmingen Airport also underlines its role as an employer. The number of employees rose from 2024 to 309 in 379. This includes 26 trainees and students who will secure operations in the long term.
