At the award ceremony for the Michelin stars on Tuesday evening in Salzburg's Hangar-7, SalzburgerLand was recognized as a culinary stronghold. A total of 18 Michelin stars and four green stars for sustainable cuisine were awarded to restaurants in the state. These awards mark the return of the world-renowned restaurant guide to Austria, which is publishing a complete country guide for the first time since 2009.

The event was dedicated to the outstanding culinary diversity of SalzburgerLand, which is known for its high density of top chefs and exceptional restaurants. It is particularly worth mentioning that the region is the leader in this category in Austria with five restaurants, each of which received two stars. The award-winning establishments include the "Kräuterreich by Vitus Winkler" in Sankt Veit im Pongau and the "Restaurant Döllerer" in Golling.

In addition, four restaurants were awarded the Green Star, a special symbol for sustainable culinary practices. This award is given to restaurants that work particularly closely with regional producers and rely on seasonal ingredients. One example of this is the "Kräuterreich by Vitus Winkler", which was awarded along with the "dahoam by Andreas Herbst" in Leogang and the "Rauchkuchl" in Stuhlfelden.

Governor Wilfried Haslauer and other leading figures in Salzburg welcomed the return of the Michelin Guide as a significant success for regional gastronomy and the associated increase in international visibility. The high number of awards underscores the culinary potential of Salzburg and its steady development into a renowned destination for gourmets from all over the world.
